Cut list optimiser for cabinet makers

Cabinet work is rarely just a list of rectangles. The same part also carries a material, grain direction, finished edges, machining and a name somebody must recognise at assembly.

Keep the job readable

Use stable part IDs and plain titles such as “base left gable”. The layout, exported list and machining view then describe the same component instead of three anonymous rectangles.

Respect the finished face

Lock rotation for directional MFC, veneer and plywood. Record edging on the actual finished edges, and check the drawing before relying on the optimiser’s most compact arrangement.

Move from list to workshop

Export a labelled PDF or CSV for checking, then create DXF or a supported machine format where appropriate. The drawing remains the human-readable reference for the first test run.

Can I use my own sheet sizes?

Yes. Add the real length, width, kerf, trim and optional price for each board you use.

Does Cutspan calculate edging?

It records the edges you mark and summarises edging requirements. Check finished dimensions and edging conventions before ordering.

Will it design a cabinet?

No. It plans the parts you provide; the cabinet dimensions and construction remain your design.
