Cut planning for CNC workshops
Cutspan keeps panel geometry and machining notes together, but the machine operator remains the final authority on tooling, origin and safe execution.
Prepare consistent parts
Name every part, confirm its finished dimensions and choose the face and origin conventions before adding machining. Repeated parts should be identical by data, not merely look similar on screen.
Review machining visibly
Holes, rows, grooves and supported contour operations are shown against the part. Use the preview and operation list to find the wrong edge, depth or face before export.
Export, then prove
Generate DXF or a supported BPP/MPR file only after the list and drawing agree. Confirm post-processor assumptions, tool codes, zero corner and machine travel, then run the first program on scrap.
Questions
Is this a machine simulator?
No. It prepares and displays supported operations but does not simulate your controller, tooling or clamps.
Does every machine accept the same BPP or MPR?
No. Dialects and controller expectations differ. Select the intended format and prove it safely on the target machine.
Can I export parts without machining?
Yes. A plain rectangular part can still be exported as geometry.
