Cutting MFC and Egger board: planning a cut list

Egger MFC is made at 2800 × 2070 mm, with a long board at 4100 × 2070 mm. Other brands and many stocked plain colours come at 2440 × 1220 mm. The two sizes give very different layouts: a kitchen that needs five 8x4 sheets needed three Egger boards in our kitchen cut list example. Enter the size you are buying.

When a CSV is imported with a material name containing both EGGER and MFC, Cutspan gives it the 2800 × 2070 sheet; a board you add by hand gets the size you type.

Melamine is hard and brittle, and it chips where the blade exits. Panel saws use a scoring blade to cut the underside face first; without one, a fine-tooth blade and a sacrificial backing help. Measure the kerf of the saw you use — see saw kerf.

Small parts near the sheet edge are more likely to chip or move. The Keep small parts off the board edge setting holds any part with a side under 200 mm that far from every sheet edge. It works on the panel saw and in CNC nesting with Tuck narrow parts inside, not in plain CNC nesting.

A cut MFC edge is bare chipboard: rough, absorbent and unprotected against moisture. Visible edges are banded with matching ABS or PVC tape, commonly 0.8, 1 or 2 mm thick. Mark each banded side on every part; the result totals the metres per decor and thickness — see edge banding.

Hinge cups, 32 mm shelf-pin rows and grooves for backs are the usual MFC machining. Measure the board and set Actual thickness, mm if a depth depends on it, then add the operations and export BPP, MPR or DXF — see machine files.
